I was just looking trough the ep transcripts and I decided to read "The Anniversary Show" when it strucked me that I have never seen this following scene.

FADE OUT:
END OF ACT TWO

TAG
INT. LIVING ROOM - A FEW DAYS LATER

(Tony is lying on the couch, wearing sweats, with a pillow under his head.)

TONY: (Groans) Ohhh…

JON: (O.S.)

How are you feeling, Tony?

TONY: Terrible. How about you?

JON: Worse.

ANGLE ON:

(Jonathan seated in a chair wearing a T-shirt and shorts, his legs, arms and face are dotted with Calamine Lotion.)

JON: Why did all the mosquitoes at camp have to pick on me?

TONY: I guess they like little WASPs.

JON: I’m never going outside again.

(Sam and Mona enter carrying grocery bags. Ad lib “Hellos,” “How are you’s?,” and groans)

SAM: (Carrying groceries towards couch)

TONY: Funny, Sam. But just remember, some day I’ll be able to move again and… (Ominously) …you’re mine.

(Sam darts into the kitchen)

MONA: Okay, I’ve got everything you asked for. Comic books for you young man. (Handing them to Tony )

And girlie magazines for you. (Handing them to Jonathan)

Wait a minute, that’s not right. (She makes the switch.)

JON: (Snapping his fingers) Rats!

(Angela enters from the kitchen. She carries a tray with two glasses of juice.)

ANG: Okay, juice for my sick little boys.

(She hands juice to Jonathan and Tony )

TONY: (Like a sick little boy) Is it fresh?

ANG: Yes, I squeezed it myself, and I took all the seeds out.

TONY: You weren’t wearing a tie, were you?

SFX: PHONE

(Angela goes to answer it)

ANG: Hello. Yes, just a minute. (Covering mouthpiece) It’s Dr. Carter.

TONY: (The hypochondriac) Oh, God, I bet he left a sponge in me…or his watch. I think I hear it ticking.

ANG: It’s for Mother.

TONY: Oh.

MONA: (Taking phone) Hello. Why, yes, Dr. Carter, Saturday night sounds like fun. But I must warn you, as with any procedure of this nature, there’s always a chance of death, but it’ll be worth it.

(On Tony’s reaction, we)

FREEZE FRAME:

END OF TAG

So my question goes out to the ones who saw this ep on "Pro7" or "Kabel 1" have you ever seen it? Did I miss it? If not, why the hell did they cut it out then?

Connecticutty,
I´ve seen WTB on PRO 7 and RTL and I´ve never seen that scene.

No idea, Connecticutty. I've never seen this scene either, and I didn't even know it existed! Why the hell can't they air shows just as they originally are?

Nor did I know -until yesterday- that it existed at all. Why do they do that to such a harmless but obviously nice scene?

Hello Peggy,
That would mean; if you haven't seen it either, they have never aired it in Germany at all. For all I know the original run was on RTL and don't know if you saw the original run but if you did that would mean they (RTL) got an edited version? - So have Kabel1 and Pro7. Why?

I wonder if that was the "final draft" or not. The draft that was could have been a first or second. . .i think they go through several before the actual taping. Interesting though

No, I don't remember that scene either. . .hmmm.

I don't remember this either. It's really a shame how much is cut out from the original episodes.

I really hope they would just come out with a WTB? Dvd series.....that could really solve a lot of these problems.

Hi Connecticutty,

I think I´ve seen parts of the original run on RTL, but I only started taping episodes when the re-runs started, so I don´t remember whether or not this scene was in the original run. Could it be that this scene was just in the script and was never shown on any channel because for some reason they decided to let the episode end the way it does now in the hospital?

The version of the episode that I have from Prime doesn't have that scene either, so maybe it's what taxifan said that we don't have the final draft. I noticed a couple of other things that were in the script that were changed in the episode e.g. Jenny, the girl that's going to camp with Jonathan, telling Tony that she can't resist a man in uniform, or Tony coming down the stairs while Angela is still in the living room rather than after she goes into the kitchen. And maybe they ran out of time, since the episode without that scene runs for the full 22 minutes.

Connecticutty, I just read your post and it really brought back some old memories. I know I have seen the scene you described. I'm not sure if it's on one of my tapes, or if I saw it on one of the many stations that WTB? has been on in the past 10 years. When I have time, I'll check my tapes and see if I can find it. If I do, I'll see if I can tell which network aired it and report back here. Thanks for jarring my memory about that scene. I had completely forgotten about it. I agree with Frosty that it would be so nice to have the episodes available on DVD. Hopefully every part of every scene would be included; not like the Columbia House video tapes that may or may not have everything that was taped and aired in the original series. We can always hope! ;)

i just love everything about wtb

That scene would have been great. Classic comedy with Tony and Jonathan a real father/son moment and then toss in Angela and shake it up with Mona and you've got a wonderful blend.
