Main Jeopardy! Thread

Welcome everybody to the Main Jeopardy! thread where you can discuss stuff about the ultimate trivia game, mostly pertaining to our favourite show 'Who's the Boss?'. I still inted to go through with it, and if you'd like to host also, say so here. Also, we'll be gauging interest so if you only want to play as a contestant, say so also. You don't have to 'sign up' per se, and we won't be limiting the number of contestants per game to three, however, in this sort of game, it's the more the merrier.

The way it works is a lot like the actual television game show Jeopardy! hosted by Art Fleming (as seen in 'Airplane 2 The Sequel' (1982) ) and since 1984 by Alex Trebek (as seen in 'Short Cuts' (1993) and 'White Men Can't Jump' (1992) among others).

We provide half a dozen categories with five clues each - that amounts to 30 clues for you math geniuses. That's the first round. And then the second round (called Double Jeopardy) repeats this but with high values for possibly more difficult clues. I keep score at home when watching this show, and tend to get more Double Jeopardy clues correct, but to each his (or her) own.

Somewhere amongst the clues, hidden, are Daily Doubles, special clues that can be modified in value. So if the first round in our game will have clues worth 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500, the Double Jeopardy round can be 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1000. If you locate a Daily Double, it can be worth as much as you want, providing you have that amount. Example:

You have 2000 and you find a Daily Double at 100. You can make it be worth 2000. But, like with all clues, if you get it incorrect, you lose the 2000 or whatever you made it worth.

The main thing is to phrase your response in the form of a question, i.e. 'What is ... ?' or 'Who is ... ?' ...

The Daily Doubles belong only to the contestant who found them but all other clues are for anyone and everyone.

Then we come to the Final Jeopardy round, where it's one clue and the responses must be secretive (sent via e-mail or private message to the host(s) and after the time limit shall be announced) ...

No time is set yet for when this will begin, but stay tuned and it will be.

I'll be a contestant. I don't think I would know how to be a host.

Well, I'd host along with the other person, sharing the duties, it's easier that way ... two bosses are better than one ...

It's about 40% complete but don't count on it anytime soon. I'd say depending on the time I have for it, next month at the earliest.
