I believe the correct spelling is "Cohan": Martin Cohan

Thanks for the correction. Sometimes pain pills do a number on me lately! I need all the help I can get some days & I'm overworked, overtired, the proper term is exhausted!

Actually as I'm still on the forums I've learned Mr. Cohan died on the 19th. He had cancer.

Here's the link to the LA Times obit. Cohan created quite a legacy, not only with WTB?, but through all the wonderful, iconic shows he was a part of. The small screen lost one of its giants.

And another article on his passing:

Many of you probably already know this but for those who don't'; Tony Danza says on his blog of Wednesday that he spoke to Martin Cohan on Tuesday night and Cohan had watched Who's The Boss? on the Hallmark channel that morning, cheering him up some. Of course he passed away on Wednesday. Very poignant, very circular.

I am sad to hear about his passing. When I was a teen and so madly fan of WTB, I used to know by heart the song, and all the writing on the generic: his name and the name of Blake Hunter are well placed in my memory.

I've never heard that phrase...what does it refer to?

I think it means, the title sequence. "Générique" is the French word for "main credits".

I did not know that Mr Cohan had died. Only very recently I read it in Wikipedia. Once again we are reminded that the show is a classic - in quality as well as in years. Somehow the news that Martin Cohan had passed away made me think of Samantha's and Tony's dialogue towards the end of "A Farewell To Nick"...

Sorry Listner, I just saw your post today....
WillTruman is right. Sometimes because I lack time I don't search for the correct word, and I assumed "main credits" was the word I invented: "Generic". Sorry for that.
